The defect
Due to a manufacturing defect, the oil supply to the rear axle drive shaft bearing may not meet specification. As a result, the bearing may overheat and seize causing a loss of motive power whilst driving and/or an oil leak from the rear axle.
The hazard
A loss of motive power and/or an oil leak onto the road could increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.
The remedy
