Verify before you act. Recall details and remedies can change. Our database is updated regularly but may not reflect the most recent revisions. Always confirm with vehiclerecalls.gov.au or your vehicle manufacturer before acting on the information below. Read our full disclaimer.

The defect

Due to a supplier manufacturing issue, the crankcase ventilation system may have a blocked breather port. This can result in excessive build up pressure in the crankcase, posing a risk of hot oil spraying out unexpectedly if the dipstick is removed while the engine is running or warm.

The hazard

If a person makes direct contact with the hot engine oil it could cause severe burns or eye injury.

The remedy

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Harley-Davidson asking them to schedule an appointment to have the airbox backplate breather port inspected on their motorcycle and, if necessary, the breather port will be corrected free of charge.
