The defect
The bolt securing the steering coupling may not have been tightened correctly during manufacture. This may result in the steering coupling detaching from the steering shaft.

The hazard
If the steering coupling detaches from the steering shaft it may cause a loss of steering control and an increased risk of an accident.
The remedy
Letters will be sent to owners of affected vehicles. Contacted owners should present their vehicle to their preferred dealer to have the steering coupling bolt checked and replaced if required.
