The defect

The rear brake calipers may have incorrect chrome coating on the pistons, which may cause gas pockets to form in the brake system. In some instances, the brake pedal may exhibit increased travel and/or feel soft after vehicle start.

The hazard

Gas pockets in the brake system may result in a reduction in rear brake performance, which could cause a vehicle crash without prior warning.

The remedy

Affected owners will be contacted by mail advising them to schedule an appointment with their nearest Chrysler Jeep Dodge (CJD) dealer for repair. The dealer will bleed the entire brake system to remove any gas pockets.
