The defect
Due to a manufacturing defect, the transverse link bushes fitted to the front axle may have been incorrectly welded. This could cause the transverse link to fracture causing the front wheels to move independently of the steering wheel, potentially resulting in a loss of vehicle control.

A loss of vehicle control increases the risk of an accident causing serious injuries or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.
The remedy
Owners can contact their preferred Volkswagen dealer to schedule an appointment to have the vehicle inspected and rectified free of charge.
