The defect

Due to a software error, the infotainment unit screen may enter a test mode during start-up of the vehicle. This may prevent key information such as the vehicle's speed from being displayed.

Failure to display key information may potentially increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.

The remedy

The corrective action for this recall is to update the vehicle's software. This software will be released as an Over the Air update that owners can download to the vehicle themselves. However, if unable to update the car remotely, owners should contact their authorised Volvo retailer for an appointment without delay and they will update the vehicle at no cost.
